Thank you to everyone at Vault/Damstra

As I write this article I'm staring down my last day with Vault IQ (Part of Damstra Technology). Although I haven't been here for long it's been an amazing journey.

I started my Vault life on the day we all got asked to work from home due to the COVID-19 situation in Australia and New Zealand. Not only was this my first purely management role, but most of the team (and the company) was inexperienced with remote work. In my first few weeks I got to know the team; we found ways to work together, learnt what drives each of us, and adapted to a fully-remote setting. Thanks to an amazing team I think our adaptation and my introduction was a success. Although we all struggled in our own ways at various times, the team surrounding me excelled in a testing time and environment, for this I am hugely thankful.

As the year progressed we took on some challenging tasks, from improving reliability and scalability of our backend services to introducing two new wearable platforms. Thrown in to the mix was the acquisition of Vault IQ by Damstra Technology; as anyone who's been through an acquisition or merger before can attest, this comes with its own stressors and doubts. When added to the COVID environment, remote work and all the other changes everyone had been through I was amazed at how resilient the team was.

I trust that with the help, guidance and perseverance of those who are taking over my role both the team and the Solo product has an amazing future ahead. Although I may not be involved in the day-to-day operations I still consider myself a stake-holder and I will be watching from the sidelines wishing success for the team, the product and the company.

I want to give a massive shout-out to the entire Vault team, to those I've worked with as part of Damstra and to the partners, customers and suppliers I've collaborated with. Every single person I've interacted with has helped to make this challenging journey a success and one I will always look back on as a positive experience.

To those in my team and everyone else I've encountered along the way, I wish you all the best in your journey and I hope we will stay in contact and maybe even work together again.
