Thank you
Hello from a beautiful, sunny day in London ??
I hope you enjoyed the first series of the podcast. It was such a thrill to have eight such wonderful guests and I owe you a heartfelt thank you for listening and sharing - it's down to you that the podcast hit iTunes Top 21 Tech Podcasts!
If you missed any, you can catch up with them below and scroll down to the bottom for a sneak peek of Series 2...!
In the first episode, I sat down with one of the nicest people in tech - Andy Hertzfeld -to discuss what it was like to work on the original Macintosh team, what he learned about life from Steve Jobs, and some of the highs and lows of General Magic - the startup he co-founded and which imagined the iPhone thirteen years ahead of time. (PS if you haven't see it, this General Magic docu is a great watch.)
Listen o the Andy Hertzfeld episode here.
Richard rarely gives interviews so I was truly honoured that he took time to talk me through his life from the impact of his father's suicide and how it shaped his career, to what being in the Marines taught him about entrepreneurship, to how he built the original jetsuit and, what it feels like to, quite literally, fly (something I have always dreamed of doing, to this very day).
And if you enjoyed Richard's episode, you can pre-order Richard's book here.

Shellye is such an incredible force – a woman in tech who forged her own path at IBM and beyond. We discuss the adversity she overcame from childhood including racism and sexism, her lessons for being “Unapologetically Ambitious” and how you can achieve almost anything you want as long as you plan for it.

Philip is a pioneer in tech, most famous for founding Second Life – the world’s first virtual world. In this episode, we talk about his early influences, his ability to see into the future and how he is able to execute on that, as well as what he is working on now (clue - spatial audio).

In episode 5, Square co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Jim McKelvey opens up to me about his early life and how his mother’s premature passing forced him to focus, how he met Jack Dorsey, and the reason behind them starting Square when Jack had been kicked out of his own company - Twitter. We also discuss Jim's book – The Innovation Stack - in which he shares the lessons he learned from studying some of the most successful founders who won, despite the odds being against them.

Dhiraj is co-founder of the wildly popular music recognition app Shazam which was built at a time when mobile phones were neither smart nor ubiquitous. We talk about his life growing up in India and early influences, how he met his four Shazam co-founders and why they set about developing an app built using an algorithm which many told them was simply impossible to do... and how they proved them wrong.

Catherine was brought in to work on Alexa pre-launch so in this episode, we talk about the early days working on a product which was very much ahead of its time, and how the rate of adoption grew far more quickly than anticipated. Catherine also talks me through the technology which is required to make voice assistants like Alexa work and what the future of smart assistants might look like.

In the final episode of Series 1, I was fortunate enough to speak to Al Alcorn who was not only part of the founding team of Atari but he is the man responsible for creating Pong. Al is a fascinating guy with lots of great stories about the dawn of the gaming industry - from the early days of Atari to hiring Steve Jobs and then turning down shares in Apple, and why it was always mission critical for Atari to stay ahead of its competition.

And as for Series 2? I have another eight incredible guests lined up for you - from the former CTO of the USA under President Obama, to the inventor of the very first electronic spreadsheet to the one of only two known African-American engineers to build both a game and PC in the 70s.

Thanks again for being a part of this journey with me and I hope you have a wonderful week. I will be in touch soon with a full rundown of what guests you can expect in Series 2.
