A thank you
The Legal 500 for 2021 was published a couple of days ago. For a full listing of the firm's rankings, please see here: https://www.legal500.com/firms/2322-memery-crystal-llp/362-london-england/
First, I'm delighted that Memery Crystal's Commercial IP and Technology Team was given its first ranking this year - after a couple of years of building up our practice, things are really moving up the gears. The team has expanded with three new recruits - Partner Nathan Evans leading our Technology practice and coming over to us from Bristows, and two great new associates - Kasia Reda and Ally Clarke both of whom have strong backgrounds in commercial and IP matters.
I'm also delighted to report that the gaming and licensing team also received excellent rankings and comments. It's a real tribute to a hard working and dedicated team.
However, I confess that my otherwise broad smile is tinged with a little concern: this year the Legal 500 saw fit to place me in the Gambling Lawyers "Hall of Fame".
It's a great honour, of course, and all the more so because the others in that group are a true group of professionals with many years of service to their clients.
However, coming as it does on my birthday, there is a tinge of concern. When I checked the definition of "Hall of Fame", online, one dictionary described it as "a museum which houses the memorabilia of past (normally sporting) champions".
In the first place, I'm not normally sporting. And in the second, what do you mean "PAST??" I'm a spring chicken! There are plenty more causes still to fight.
But most of all this is a posting to thank to all the clients and contacts with whom we work, and especially those who took the time to give comments on our work and practice. It really means a great deal to us. A common theme from the testimonials is that, for us, helping our clients to get the best result is a really personal commitment to do the absolute best we can for them. And for me that's the nicest compliment for our team - because it's true.
