Thank You

This short poem is dedicated to all those that are helping combat and working though Covid – 19. May you all everywhere be healthy & safe.

Once again, I am deeply inspired and touched by man’s innate goodness, courage and compassion. AR

A little more than a month ago life marched on quite routine –

Then from a distant land came an affliction labeled extreme –

They call it Covid - 19 a virus unknown to man –

Survival is its purpose with no regard to goals or plan –

It knows not race nor religion and cares not where you were born –

It calculates not your net-worth nor good deeds and laughs at your fear and scorn –

It moves unseen through family and friends with no discern or compassion-

Hiding silently deep within us, an enemy’s characteristic and fashion -

But we have something it has not, something that always gets us through -

In times of need and uncertainty it’s that spark that always stands true -

The Human Spirit within us will never be defeated, impossible to lose –

Always there to help us rise and overcome a life’s unexpected bruise –

To all that continue to help in this most challenging moment of pain-

To those that never quite seem to notice their own profit and gain -

I honor and applaud your strength, your courage and loving humanity –

It is YOU that will bring us back from this brief instant of insanity -

Surely as the sun rises and sets this too will come to pass –

Life again will continue to live along its somewhat pre-destined path –

But maybe, just maybe this time will demand some change forever -

After all my dear mankind we really are “ALL IN THIS TOGETHER” ….
