A personal journey and some lessons learned
Introduction
I’m humbled and honored to have just passed 7,000 followers in a little under a year of revamping how I have been approaching LinkedIn. I want to thank every one of you for your support, engagement, and feedback. You have made this platform a valuable source of learning, inspiration, and connection for me.
In this post, I want to share some of the tips and strategies that have helped me grow my network and reach on LinkedIn. I hope they can be useful for anyone who wants to achieve similar results or simply improve their online presence
Tip #1: Be Consistent and Authentic
One of the most important factors for growing on LinkedIn is consistency. This means posting regularly, at least once a week, and preferably on the same days and times. This helps you build trust and credibility with your audience, as well as increase your visibility
But consistency is not enough if you don’t have authenticity. This means being your perspective and unique voice and perspective and adding value to your network. Don’t try to copy or imitate others or post what you think people want to hear. Instead, be honest, genuine, and vulnerable. Share your stories, insights, and opinions. Ask questions, start conversations, and engage with others. This will help you attract and connect with like-minded people
I began with an excessive amount of content that overwhelmed people, so I reduced my activity but then saw diminished engagement. Eventually, I struck a balance. People often inquire if my frequent posting is time-consuming. My response is straightforward: like a morning workout routine, I have scheduled time before starting my office work to review the daily news and strategize my communications. I cover topics on Leadership and Microsoft (focusing on Copilot and Security, with another exciting topic under my purview soon to be revealed), along with other content I believe will resonate with the audience. After planning, I set the posts to be published throughout the day, letting LinkedIn handle the distribution.

Another key factor for growing on LinkedIn is creating quality and relevant content. This means producing content that is well-written, well-formatted, and well-researched. It also means choosing topics that are interesting, useful, and timely for your target audience. You want to provide value, solve problems, or spark curiosity with your content.
Some of the types of content that work well on LinkedIn are:
·?????? How-to posts: These are posts that teach or explain something, such as a skill, a tool, a process, or a concept.
·?????? List posts: These are posts that provide a list of items, such as tips, resources, books, tools, or examples.
·?????? Case studies: These are posts that showcase a real-life example of a problem and a solution, such as a project, a client, or a success story.
·?????? Opinion posts: These are posts that express your point of view, perspective, or opinion on a topic, such as a trend, news, or a debate.

·?????? Personal stories: These are posts that share your personal experience, journey, or lesson learned on a topic, such as a challenge, a failure, or a milestone.
Tip #3: Use Multimedia and Hashtags
A third factor for growing on LinkedIn is using multimedia and hashtags. This means adding visual elements and keywords to your content to make it more attractive and discoverable. Multimedia can include images, videos, infographics, slides, or podcasts. Hashtags can include relevant terms, topics, or keywords that describe your content or niche.
Multimedia and hashtags can help you:
·?????? Capture attention: They can make your content stand out from the crowd and grab the attention of your audience.
·?????? Enhance comprehension: They can help you convey your message more clearly and effectively, and appeal to different learning styles.
·?????? Increase engagement: They can encourage your audience to interact with your content, such as liking, commenting, or sharing.
·?????? Expand reach: They can help you reach new audiences and potential followers who are interested in your content or niche.
Having a Post Go Viral!
My engagement per post is pretty consistent now, I know how many impressions a post will get, how many engagements I will get, and how many new followers through organic growth start to follow.
One day, after posting in the morning, I casually checked back at midday to see if there were any updates and found myself with 5,000 messages and a significant influx of new followers. I was puzzled about what could have transpired. Was my account compromised? Did I share something contentious that sparked debate? Then I noticed that one of my posts had reached an astonishing 100,000 impressions. For someone accustomed to 10,000 – 15,000 impressions, this was astounding. Somehow, I'd tapped into the algorithm – inexplicably and unexpectedly, but I did ??.
In the following days, the momentum only increased, and the post surged to over 250,000 impressions, eliciting an overwhelming volume of responses and shares. The experience was exhilarating, and now, there's a desire to replicate that success ??.
Conclusion
These are some of the tips and strategies that have helped me grow my network and reach LinkedIn. I hope they can help you too. Remember, growing on LinkedIn is not a sprint, but a marathon. It takes time, effort, and patience. But it also pays off in the long run. You can build meaningful relationships, establish your authority, and grow your opportunities. So, keep posting, keep learning, and keep growing. Thank you again for your support and feedback. You are awesome!
