Thank you 2023, Hello 2024!
Lola Adeyemo

Thank you 2023, Hello 2024!

As we wrap up the year, I am reminded of one of my words for this year: #COLLABORATION. I am thankful for the circles and chains that have been connected and linked on this ERG and immigrant advocacy journey for me. It's a time for reflection, and I am truly grateful to everyone who has participated in this remarkable year.

Thank You to ERG Leaders, ERG Managers, Talent, and HR Leaders!

ERG Impact 2023 EQImindset

? First Friday Monthly ERG Calls: 12 All things ERG Calls in 2023! This year, we held one every single month. Your engagement and enthusiasm on our monthly calls have been the driving force behind our collective success, and I continue to get great feedback from ERG leaders and DEI leaders leveraging connections and resources from these community calls. The exchange of ideas, insights, and experiences has been nothing short of inspiring. See you in 2024. All Things ERG Calls Every First Friday at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST.

? LinkedInLive ERG Resource Sessions: This year, I hosted 19 Impactful conversations to inform and equip ERG leaders of partners, trends, and tools that can accelerate their work. From thought-provoking discussions to actionable takeaways on careers and strategies, your participation has turned these sessions into valuable resources for all. Don't forget, they're all available for replay and with reminders on EQImindset YouTube and #LinkedInevents! In 2024, we will continue in a big way with more experts, more data, and more conversations on the ERG resource Sessions twice a month. Stay tuned.

? ERG Newsletter Launch: I launched the ERG & YOU LinkedIn Newsletter this spring, and your feedback has been invaluable. It's been a pleasure curating content from conversations with leaders of organizations early on their ERG and DEI journey to companies with thriving ERGs to conversations with ERG leaders, managers, and allies and being able to provide insights, ideas, and answers to commonly asked questions. As ERGs become adopted across companies and industries, the resources to meet organizations where they are and support to scale become more critical. I look forward to sharing insights in this newsletter next year. Check out the nine articles published and Subscribe to get notified of new publications!

??? Thriving in Intersectionality Podcast: A Heartfelt Thank You to My Guests!

Thriving in Intersectionality Podcast - An Inclusive Workplace Podcast

Thriving in Intersectionality Podcast continued the conversations that informed my book, "Immigrants, Belonging & Corporate America ." These conversations have since emerged to be an inclusive workplace resource because the stories from Immigrant Professionals, ERG leaders, and Employees from multiple Identity intersections who have overcome barriers and risen to leadership roles within their organizations are still few, and we need others to see it, hear it and strive for it - belonging and thriving in the workplace. To all the incredible podcast guests who shared their stories, experiences, and insights on the "Thriving in Intersectionality" podcast, your contributions have made a significant impact. Your willingness to share has created a platform for meaningful conversations that ripple through workplaces, fostering understanding and inclusivity. ?? Beyond Cultural Boundaries - The Immigrants in Corporate 2023 Impact

Immigrants in Corporate Impact 2023

Immigrants in Corporate (IIC) a non-profit dedicated to empowering immigrant professionals within the corporate landscape was officially registered in 2022 and this year I reflect in the power of storytelling and passion. The Corporate Immigrant newsletter , the #linkedinaudio conversations, and the voices from the Facebook community that is now 900+ members strong and growing continue to affirm the need, the gap, and the opportunity to ask, listen to, and incorporate the Immigrant perspective in inclusive workplace initiatives. We have great goals and plans ahead and are excited to see this community continue to grow and scale impact for immigrant professionals in inclusive workplaces.

Some big wins for my book were being featured on the list for the 57th annual local author showcase as a part of the San Diego library program , being selected as an author of the month of July by the library, being featured by The San Diego Union-Tribune in an article about my author journey , and recording and publishing my audiobook in the spring of 2023. I wanted to record my audiobook myself even though I could get a reader; that was until I realized the process was a tedious one. But I am grateful I chose to go through it. I hope that my book audience, who are "listeners," get my passion for these stories and the authenticity I tried to capture from the immigrant women who shared their workplace experiences with me.

I am grateful for The Anthem Awards nomination to close out 2024! Thriving in Intersectionality: Immigrants, Belonging, and Corporate America has been selected in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion - Awareness and Media Category. More to come in January 2024!

The Anthem Awards honors the purpose and mission-driven work of people, companies, and organizations worldwide. By amplifying the voices that spark global change, we’re defining a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to take action in their own communities.

Recognitions and Lessons for 2024......

On a personal recognition front, I am grateful (and humbled) to be on these lists! SD Metro 40 under 40 , the San Diego Business Journal 40 under 40 list , and closing out the year with being listed on the Color's Power 40 Under 40 !

Color Diversity is a celebration of exceptional young professionals of color who are reshaping industries, igniting change, and inspiring a new era of leadership.

This description resonates with me because it speaks to passion, a journey, and purpose.

I am grateful for the virtual and in-person stages where I shared my thoughts and insights, the platforms where I shared my written words, and the client relationships that started in 2023 and moving on into 2024.

4 Key Lessons From 2023

1. Prioritize Self-Care: In 2023, I learned the invaluable lesson that self-care is not a luxury but a necessity. Juggling work, family, and entrepreneurial responsibilities, I have struggled with my health, been on the upswing, and everywhere in between. Recognizing and reminding us all that it is important to put ourselves ahead to be wholly present when we need to be. I am grateful for the people and tools. I am strengthening this in 2024!

2. Embrace Delegation: The art of delegation became a game-changer in my life. Whether at home (where I am reassessing the needs for our life phase raising sport-active kids, kids with different healthcare needs, juggling two career parent home), or within my entrepreneurial endeavors (where I am aligning, assessing, investing, discontinuing engagements) I've come to realize that it's okay not to do it all. Delegating tasks allows for efficiency, balance, and the ability to focus on what truly matters.

3. Trust the Process & The Right Team: As an entrepreneur, the learning curve is perpetual. While patience may not be my strongest trait, 2023 taught me the importance of trusting the process and having the right people on my team. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. Embracing this mindset has been key to navigating the unpredictable journey of entrepreneurship and keep moving forward with Sapient Logic LLC , EQImindset LLC , and Immigrants in Corporate (IIC)

4. Value Feedback: Gratitude fills my heart for the mentors, coaches, and loved ones who provided valuable feedback in various aspects of my life. From emergency business proposal reviews on the fly to actual business advisory sessions to financial guidance, to sales calls listen-in, their insights served as compass points, guiding me through necessary adjustments to my strategy and offerings and helping me build the confidence to think bigger.

Feedback is not a sign of weakness but a powerful tool for evolution and improvement.

Thank you to those who have been my guides, sounding boards, and lean-in circles! As I look ahead to 2024, I am reminded that amazing people surround me, and we can each make an impact in different ways. These little bites are adding up; each interaction, each idea shared, and every story told has contributed to this collective impact that we continue to build on

Let's carry this spirit into the new year, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion, caring for our health, and celebrating our wins. Thank you for being a part of my network, as each of us commits to doing our part to build an inclusive workplace. Wishing you all a fantastic New Year 2024!
