Thank a Veteran Today, and Everyday
Each Thanksgiving, we anticipate the hustle and bustle of holiday trips, plenty of delicious food, and gathering with our family around the dinner table. It is also a time for us to be grateful for everything we have in life. It’s a time for us to recognize the many things we take for granted in our lives. Whether it’s the family that we get to see every day, the roof we have over our heads, the fulfilling careers that fill our lives, or anything else, we appreciate the little things when Thanksgiving rolls around.
There are many things we have to be thankful for that directly impact our lives, but one aspect we often forget are the enlisted military who protect our freedom every day. Military members who serve chose to do so, and for that I am thankful. They felt a calling to serve their country in the most direct possible way and dedicate their lives to something bigger than themselves.
I am thankful for the military service members who leave their home behind. Soldiers are husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, and children. When they serve, they chose to leave their hobbies, jobs, homes, and other duties behind. They put other aspects of their life on hold to ensure that we all can continue to live the lives we lead.
I am thankful for the families of enlisted military service members who are left behind, young and old. Families of service members understand the true meaning of sacrifice. It is important to remember that as we gather with our families this Thanksgiving, there are military families who are without a member or two.
I am thankful for the rigorous training military members endure and the spirit they keep. The military changes your lifestyle. Service members develop a new kind of skill and mindset during their military training. An initiation of training that many of us would not be able to handle. Enlisted military members push themselves mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually to serve. No matter the scars the military service member endure, they are proud to have served their country in the way they did.
It is important that we allow our thankfulness to expand beyond just the Thanksgiving holiday. That is why I try to express thanks to our enlisted military and veterans every day through my actions. When I first thought of ways I could express my gratitude for those who served, I wasn’t sure how I could do it. That was until I discovered my passion for helping U.S. military veterans become entrepreneurs.
Now, I dedicate my thanks by assisting veterans seeking resources to help them establish themselves as successful business owners. I have a specific site dedicated to supporting U.S. military veteran entrepreneurs. I am inspired by the determination and self-sacrifice of military veterans. I am thankful for the great amount of strength and personal motivation it takes to spend years serving our country in unimaginable conditions.
The amount of determination and self-sacrifice it takes to make it as an enlisted member of the armed services is how I know veterans make such successful entrepreneurs. The skills they gain from their military experience creates a unique combination of drive, leadership, and adaptability, making them the perfect candidates for entrepreneurship.
I am thankful that every day I have the opportunity to help veterans. Even if that isn’t the case for you, add an extra thanks to your list this Thanksgiving and thank active duty military member as well as the veterans who have helped protect your freedoms every day. Thank veterans every day by seeking out veteran owned businesses and supporting them in your everyday life.
