Thank And Grow Rich

This week, after the election, nearly 50% of Americans want to drink Drano or move to Canada.

I don't recommend either, although Canada is lovely!

Instead, try giving thanks.

It is November, after all.

And next week is Thanksgiving in the U.S. -- a time to eat, drink, be merry, and give thanks.

But did you know?

You can use this time of year to create value, in your personal and professional life, out of thin air.

It's almost alchemy.

Here’s how it works:

When you give thanks for something, you are showing appreciation.

One definition of that is this: the recognition of good qualities in someone or something.

But a second definition of appreciation is this: an increase in value.

By giving thanks and showing appreciation about good health, for example, you recognize its good qualities. And, in your mind, you increase its value.

When you show appreciation to family and friends, you increase their value, in their mind and yours.

When you show appreciation to clients, you increase their value, in their mind and yours.

You get the idea.

Put down the phone. Avoid the news. Stop doomscrolling.

Action Step: Write (with your hand!) and mail (with a stamp!) a note of thanks to your top 3 clients, to arrive in the mail before Thanksgiving.

I'm doing that today before lunch ...

By giving thanks to my clients on paper and appreciating them ...

... I'm creating tangible value out of thin air.

Which, when you think about it, is the definition of alchemy.
