Thank God It's Friday

While "TGIF" is generally associated with gratitude and appreciation, it's important to acknowledge that there is a negative connotation associated with the phrase. People use "TGIF" to express a negative attitude towards work, possibly indicating a lack of passion for their job. It can also be seen as a way to just get through the workweek and look forward to the weekend, without actively seeking fulfilment and purpose in one's work.?

My previous venture, ‘Ameyo’, focused on creating a customer interaction management suite designed for contact centres and businesses. The objective was to improve customer experience and streamline operations through automation. As a result, many large B2C operations teams, including those in sales, support, customer management, order management, and back-office, adopted our software.?

By spending a significant amount of time observing front-line workers, I was able to identify challenges that stemmed from monotony and productivity-hindering systems. Additionally, I became aware of the toll that the demanding nature of contact centre agents' work could have on their health. It was evident that micromanagement was a widespread practice in the industry and was often seen as necessary for achieving desired outcomes.?

Driven by my desire to find a solution, I embarked on a mission to address these issues. Through my research, I found that gamification can be a successful strategy for motivating individuals and directing their energies towards achieving goals. Although the success of gamification in different areas of work is fascinating, there are a number of misconceptions associated with it. Typically, gamification is associated with visual indicators such as point systems, rewards, trophies, badges, and leader boards. However, Richard Bartle's research has revealed a diverse range of player categories and motivations. The current gamification methods are only addressing to the extent of 20%. This highlights the need for improvement and a more nuanced understanding of player motivations to fully realize the potential of gamification.?
