John Powell, Head of Agricultural Sectors Team, Farming and Primary Processing Division, Agri-Food Chain Directorate, DEFRA

In his role at DEFRA, John has had specific responsibility, over the last 4 years, for the dairy, red meat, pigs, egg and poultry sectors and the associated supply chains. ?Before this, he was responsible as Head of the ELM Tests and Trials and before that, was Head of Common Agricultural Policy “No Deal” preparations.

As such, he has a great overview as to what DEFRA aspires to going forward for the farming and food chain sectors in the UK and what the implications for farmers are likely to be.

John has agreed to come and talk to us at Mapledurham and engage with a Q & A session too. He is a very busy person and we are fortunate he can join us.

This should be a fascinating talk by John and you are encouraged to attend and feel free to bring a friend/colleague along who might be interested too!
