Thailand’s policies and regulations on cannabis extraction

As of my knowledge update in September 2021, Thailand has undergone some changes in its cannabis policies, primarily focusing on medical cannabis and recreational cannabis. Please note that policies may have evolved since then, so I recommend checking the latest regulations and news for the most accurate information.

  1. Medical Cannabis: Thailand has legalized medical cannabis, allowing patients with specific medical conditions to use cannabis-derived products as a form of treatment. Medical cannabis use requires a prescription from a doctor and registration with relevant authorities.
  2. Recreational Cannabis: Thailand used to strictly prohibit recreational cannabis use, but since 2018, the Thai government has gradually eased restrictions on recreational cannabis. However, the legalization of recreational cannabis remains heavily regulated, and it can only be used legally in specific places and under certain conditions. For instance, some areas allow legal cannabis use in designated cannabis cafes or clubs, but these establishments must obtain government permits. The legal age for cannabis use may also be restricted.
  3. Cannabis Cultivation: Cannabis cultivation is typically illegal in Thailand, but the government has started exploring the possibility of legalizing cannabis cultivation for medical and industrial purposes.

Please note that Thailand's cannabis policies may vary in different regions and over time, and policies may change. If you plan to use cannabis or cannabis-related products in Thailand, it is advisable to thoroughly research the local laws and regulations before your visit to avoid any unnecessary legal issues.
