MONDAY
Thai prime minister gives policy speech
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will announce his cabinet's policies to the Thai parliament, officially starting government work four months after the May general election. Srettha will face questions from lawmakers on his party's signature policies, from a 10,000 baht ($280) universal handout and resolving high living costs to restoring Thailand's role in regional affairs and negotiating new trade agreements with the European Union, Middle East, India, Africa and South America.
TUESDAY
Apple announces new product
Apple is set to hold a highly-anticipated event at its California headquarters on Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time (Wednesday at 2 a.m. Japan time). The annual fall event -- dubbed "Wonderlust" this year -- is usually reserved for new iPhone launches. The U.S. tech giant is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 along with many other upgrades to the company's software and hardware products.

WEDNESDAY
Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong
Hong Kong will host a Belt and Road Summit with trade ministers and foreign diplomats expected to attend on Wednesday. The event will showcase a special Middle East forum and attendees will be there from representatives of the region including Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the economy minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt's international cooperation minister.
The event, with more than 80 exhibitors, coincides with the ten-year anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. China is looking to strengthen ties with the Middle East and Southeast Asia as relations with the West deteriorate -- Italy most recently pulled out of the BRI.
THURSDAY
IMF team visits Sri Lanka
A team from the International Monetary Fund is due to visit Sri Lanka from Thursday until Sept. 27, assessing the bankrupt South Asian island's progress in implementing a nearly $3 billion bailout deal agreed earlier this year. This is the first review of the arrangement and, if all goes well, it would allow the country to unlock another disbursement. The country is working to pull itself out of a crisis that last year resulted in a default on foreign debt and the resignation of then-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa amid massive protests.
FRIDAY
Milken Institute Asia Summit in Singapore
Government and corporate leaders, as well as sporting figures and celebrities, are set to descend on Singapore for the annual Milken Institute Asia Summit, a conference gathering notable names on the world stage for discussion panels and meetings. Figures like Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, the heads of Singapore sovereign wealth players Temasek and GIC, Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes, basketball star Jeremy Lin, and Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan are on the guest list.
