Yes, you read it right. The Guiding Platform is now listed in The Global Top 2.5% and is marching towards making it to the Top 1% in the next few months. I can undoubtedly quote networking as one of the key factors that contributed to the success of the platform.
I have been asked by a host of a TV show how I was able to host 600 guests from 70 countries in 44 months.
As I reflect, the first thing that comes to my mind is the network. Having genuine connections in my network is the key to growth.
Hence I started posting about the importance of networking over the last few weeks.
In today's post, I would like to talk about why we need to build genuine connections and how to do it.
Networking has transcended beyond mere handshakes and business card exchanges. It's an art form that, when mastered, can unlock doors to endless opportunities.
However, the essence of effective networking lies in building genuine connections.
Let's dive into how you can elevate your networking game by focusing on authenticity, adding value, and cultivating lasting relationships.
1. Start with a Mindset Shift
Networking shouldn't be viewed as a transactional process where you only want to gain. Instead, approach it with a mindset of curiosity and generosity.
Ask yourself, "How can I help?" rather than "What can I get?"
This shift in perspective opens up a space for more meaningful interactions and sets the foundation for genuine connections.
2. Be Authentic "YOU"
Authenticity is magnetic. In general, I am very candid and transparent with people that I connect with, in the very first interaction and set the expectations. People are naturally drawn to individuals who are genuine and transparent. Let your conversations reflect who you are, your passions, and your interests. Authentic interactions not only make you more relatable but also help in forming connections with people who share similar values and visions.
3. Quality Over Quantity
In the realm of networking, having four or five profound connections is more valuable than a list of 50 acquaintances whose names you barely remember. Focus on deepening a few key relationships instead of spreading yourself too thin. Remember, effective networking is about building a network, not just adding names to it. 4. Listen More Than You Speak
Effective communication is at the heart of networking. However, great networkers know that listening is just as important as speaking. By actively listening, you show that you value the other person's thoughts and opinions, which is crucial in building trust and rapport. This also provides you with insights into how you can add value to their life or work.
Remember everyone likes to be heard :)
5. Follow Up and Follow Through
The magic of networking often lies in what happens after the initial interaction. Follow up with the individuals you connect with through a personalized message or email.

Mention something specific from your conversation to show that you were genuinely interested.
If you promised to share a resource or make an introduction, do so promptly. Just to let you know, consistency in follow-up reinforces your reliability and interest in nurturing the connection.
If they don't respond after two attempts, I don't recommend a 3rd attempt unless you are in dire need.
6. Leverage Social Media Thoughtfully
Social media platforms are powerful tools for networking. Use them to share your insights, celebrate others' achievements, and engage in meaningful conversations. However, be mindful not to let digital interactions replace the warmth and authenticity of face-to-face connections. Whenever possible, bridge the gap from online to in-person meetups. I invite TGV guests to my home and request them to keep me posted if they happen to visit Hyderabad. Few of them visited my home and I met a few others outside.
We feel proud and happy when someone congratulates us on our achievements, we need to congratulate others too
7. Be a Connector
One of the most powerful ways to network effectively is to be a connector. Introduce people in your network to each other when you see a mutual benefit.
Selflessly introduce people without expecting anything in return. Remember, all the good deeds come back to you
Being known as someone who adds value by connecting with others elevates your position within your network and makes you a go-to resource.

8. Embrace Rejection Gracefully
Not every attempt at networking will result in a strong connection, and that's okay. Rejection is part of the process and it is okay to get rejected. Treat every interaction as a learning opportunity and move forward with grace. The right connections will appreciate your approach and be more inclined to engage.
We may not like everyone, and the case is true for others also.
That is acceptable though :)
Effective networking is less about collecting contacts and more about building authentic, meaningful relationships.
By focusing on genuine interactions, offering value, and nurturing connections, you can unlock the full potential of networking.
Remember, the goal is not just to meet people but to understand them and find ways to contribute to their success as well as your own.
In the art of networking, the most lasting connections are those built on the foundation of sincerity and mutual respect.
