Is there hope for our planet or is everything too late and we have to move on to the next one? As you know my unbreakable optimism, I say NO, it isn't too late at all. We can and will make it and if that little contribution makes you smile and think "Heck yeah! We'll make it", then my mission for today is accomplished.

An NGO named Trees for the Future is revolutionizing conservation efforts in Africa by prioritizing agro-forestry techniques over traditional park infrastructure funding. By converting 41,000 hectares of land into forest farms, they are creating sustainable economies for rural farmers while promoting biodiversity. Instead of simply aiming to plant trees, their goal is to generate 230,000 jobs through agro-forestry, ultimately leading to the cultivation of approximately one billion trees.

Vincent Mainga, the Kenya director of Trees for the Future, describes the program as a regenerative agriculture movement that empowers farmers over four years to manage thriving farmlands independently. Through multi-tiered forest farming techniques, which have been practised for millennia, farmers are equipped with tools, training, and seedlings to establish diverse ecosystems supporting crops and wildlife.

By introducing innovative approaches such as soil carbon certification and Village Savings and Loan Association training, Trees for the Future is enhancing environmental resilience and fostering economic prosperity within local communities.
