While Freudenberg Performance Materials’ product portfolio mostly consists of a wide-range of nonwoven fabrics, Mehler Texnologies? is unique because its products involve weaving processes such as basket and panama weave, and the woven material is coated. This process is used in a variety of industries and applications – one of which is Textile Architecture.

What is Textile Architecture?

Textile architecture refers to the use of textiles or fabric materials in the design and construction of architectural structures. These textiles can be used as interior finishes, shading devices, and other architectural elements. Textile architecture allows for flexible, lightweight, and sustainable building solutions that can be easily installed and adapted to different environments. This approach to architecture can create innovative and dynamic spaces.

What does the Textile Architecture future hold?

Sustainability will be an important topic in 2024, and beyond, for the whole industry.

The building industry is responsible for approximately 40% of the global carbon footprint. Therefore, sustainability is not just a trend, but a vital necessity.

Textile architecture is already a sustainable building method that minimizes the use of raw materials while efficiently covering large areas, such as stadiums. However, relying solely on this inherent sustainability is not enough. At Mehler Texnologies?, we strive to drive the industry forward with innovations in sustainability, as well as other areas. We believe that there are many ways to reduce material consumption, and are proud to be a trendsetter in using recycled raw materials in our architectural membranes.

What's New for Mehler's Textile Architecture Segment?

We are looking forward to seeing the innovative material, VALMEX? Concept Coral, featured in new projects. The vibrant Coral Colours will certainly capture interest for our bespoke weaves. Patterns are new in the field of Textile Architecture, and we are excited to showcase this new technology at various exhibitions and conferences in 2024.

TechTextil 2024: Learn more about Mehler Texnologies? products

During TechTextil 2024, the leading international technical textiles and nonwovens trade fair, Mehler Texnologies? will present their newest product developments at the Freudenberg Performance Materials booth.

At the booth, we’ll be showcasing our new materials VALMEX? Concept Coral and VALMEX? TF400 ECO F.

VALMEX? Concept Coral comes in 30 different coral colors that are sure to serve as an eye-catcher for our products. This line introduces a new feature in the world of Textile Architecture: patterns! Instead of producing plain fabrics, we can now create patterns such as diamond-shaped structures within the mesh. Our entire team at Mehler Texnologies? is excited to work with more fabrics like this in the future.

TechTextil takes place from April 23rd - 26th, 2024 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
