Text Message to a Friend About Our Strange Day
Oh MJ, all three of us had such a messed up weird day today that it was unbelievable! Things started to go wrong when Tiger our new cat got out when Danny opened the door in order to weed-eat the lawn for our next door neighbor. So now we can’t find our brand new cat of four whole days anywhere. An hour later our friend Connie shows up to take us to Food Lion grocery store and to eat lunch at Roma’s. Meanwhile I am getting dressed in my bedroom when I hear a faint meow. So, I go into the living room with the news that maybe the cat came back. But oh no, it couldn’t just be that simple! Connie says no, there is a kitten stuck in car motor because she heard it meow when she left her house as she pulled out of her driveway. So out the door Danny goes to check out Connie’s car and to listen to see if he hears a cat. And indeed he says that he does. So we all three decided that Connie needs to stop at a mechanic shop in order to get help to save kitty, but the mechanic is not interested. Now here’s where the plot begins to thicken. The restaurant is right next door to the mechanic shop so we eat. Then after lunch we go onto Food Lion presuming that Connie is going elsewhere to get help later knowing that it’s going to cost her plenty. Still I am not believing because I had yet to hear the cat meowing myself, with me being the family skeptic. So after shopping for about fifteen minutes and now I am leaving the store and now I am entering the Twilight Zone. Upon arriving at Connie’s car I see a large group of people standing right there around the car, one of which was a beautiful Caucasian woman wearing a complete Islamic burka. Naturally I speak to her first to ask her where she is from, and she can’t speak English well but is able to say that she is from the Ukraine and has been in America for three months. Her husband meantime is working on Connie’s car with an open box of brand new tools of every kind and he knows how to use them. Then abracadabra he finally finds the shaken, panting, thirsty kitten which he hands to Connie while Danny is in the passenger side of the car ranting and raving about how hot he is and that they should send the immigrants back.
This was a weird, painful and wonderful experience that has got to have a lesson to be learned. It was profoundly emotional for me to meet a whole family, including their young son, that has successfully escaped from such a horrible war. And they are also European Muslims, and she is stunningly beautiful like my old Facebook connection Sa Na who is still stranded in Afghanistan and in need of help. And her husband just happened to have the tools needed to do the job. (And you also know how little I believe in the miracle coincidence.)
Such ridiculous circumstances must either mean that I am being punished by God for past and persistent sins, God is teaching all three of us a lesson about faith, or Danny and I both are being tested with various health conditions and losses. However, I am not about to give any credit to the devil at all because he’s not the one in charge, we are and God is.
The title of this story is The Three Stooges Do Cats.
Note: We have lost three cats in the past three months. We lost Princess to old age which made us very sad. The after my Facebook page gets hacked by a malicious cyber bully from Kosovo on my birthday, Danny brings home a precious stray kitten one month later to both please him and me and she promptly dies the very next day. And now a third cat is lost through dumb luck. However I still believe “that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose”
Danny wants to go back to the shelter and get another kitty, but I don’t care if I never see another cat, at least for a little while. But alas, we all three found ourselves at the animal shelter the next day, but l you know it, Tiger showed up and wasn't lost after all,. So now we have two kittens romping around the house, Tiger and Princess number two!
