Week-Out Report - November 2, 2022
- Turnout is low compared to the 2018 midterm election and the 2020 presidential election. Nevertheless, the current trajectory is very much in line with previous midterm elections in Texas this century.
- This more historical level of turnout favors GOP candidates. In fact, what we know about those who have voted so far shows that GOP candidates already have a large lead in the number of voters who have voted with a week to go.
- Polling also indicates that statewide GOP candidates will enjoy wide margins of victory.
- If turnout data and polling are correct, the intrigue on Tuesday night will be the results of local races … and, in particular, local races in South Texas where the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) is hopeful it can flip several open seats.
