TX Weekly CRE Brief: 06/11/21 - Deals, News, Events, Books, Podcasts

I've been deeply immersed in the Commercial Real Estate space for quite a number of years. In order to stay up to date and knowledgable, I rely on many sources of news and information. Part of my process includes taking notes, saving links, etc. This process has always served me well. So, I thought I'd begin to share some of things I find interesting each week in the form of a quick newsletter/blog. What follows is an assortment of links to commercial real estate deals, news, events, books, and podcasts focused on being a commercial real estate professional in The Great State of Texas.

DEALS / ANNOUNCEMENTS

Austin

Austin Business Journal reports that Morgan Group is about to break ground on a 336-unit multi-family complex in Georgetown. (Paywall) 

Data Center Frontier reports that Switch plans to build a ‘huge” new data center in Round Rock on land recently acquired from Dell.   

DFW/Metroplex

Dallas Business Journal reports that Plano’s 5801 Headquarters Drive sold to Monarch Alternative Capital.  (Paywall) 

Connect CRE reports that Oregon-based Menashe Properties made its first acquisition in Texas with its purchase of the 367k sf Heritage One & Two class-A towers.

Houston

Connect CRE reports that Hardy Properties is pivoting to a new strategy and will offer move-in ready spaces citing ease of use and increased demand for move-in ready spaces.  

Houston Business Journal reports that 35 South Capital, a new Houston-based investment company, purchased 3642 University Blvd., a mixed-use property in West University Place.  (Paywall) 

San Antonio

KBS announces its first two WiredScore certified properties in the San Antonio market: City View and Fountainhead Tower.

Connect CRE reports that CBRE consolidated three area offices in to one space at 1803 Broadway St.

ECONOMIC DATA

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index Summary reports that CPI for All Urban Customers (CPI-U) rose by 0.6 percent in May on a seasonally adjusted basis after rising 0.8 percent in April.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that Houston Area Employment shows that jobs are returning in Houston but below the national rate of growth.

BOOKS, COURSES, PODCASTS - RECOMMENDATIONS

Sandler Training.  I recently went through the Sandler Selling System training and I can’t recommend it enough. 

While on the subject of Sandler, make sure you subscribe to their Podcast: How to Succeed hosted by Mike Montague. It drops every week and is a great resource for improving all aspects of your professional sales toolkit.
