Texas Association of Business
The Texas Association of Business serves as the Texas State Chamber.
Glenn Hamer, President & CEO
Fellow Texans – after last week’s election, I was?ecstatic?that the results will allow Texas to continue our record-breaking streak of job creation by cultivating and strengthening the best environment for business in the Galaxy! As I?told the?Fort Worth Star-Telegram?last week:
“I really believe that the Texas miracle, as a result of what happened both in Texas and federally, is alive and well. And the state will reach new levels of prosperity, under the upcoming federal administration and the continuation of great leadership in the state of Texas.”
I also encourage you to listen to my interview on Cardle & Woolley on 1370 AM in Austin, where I break down my key takeaways on the impact of Tuesday’s election results.?LISTEN HERE.
This week, we’re keeping a close eye on the Texas Senate Committee on Natural Resources & Economic Development, where Senators will be discussing an important?interim charge?related to strengthening our workforce by enhancing childcare in Texas. Today, I was proud to co-author a?column in the?Austin American-Statesman?with Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) President & CEO, Dr. Emily Williams Knight, Ed.D. making the business case for child care reform in Texas:
“While the lack of affordable, quality child care is hurting all businesses, we know 99.8% of Texas’ businesses are small businesses and they are feeling this pain especially. According to one recent survey,?62% of small business owners report unplanned employee absences, 30% experience employee resignations and 39% lose business opportunities due to child care challenges. This crisis hits every Texas community from bustling urban centers to small, rural towns.”
At TAB, our Board and members have access to detailed information and intelligence on what’s going on at the State Capitol in Austin, Washington, D.C., and internationally, with the goal of ensuring our state’s business leaders have the tools and resources to succeed at the state, national, and global levels.
If you’re a business owner in Texas and not yet a TAB Member we would love for you to consider joining TAB.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Earlier last week, TAB joined forces with key business groups from Texas and Mexico—including the Texas Trucking Association (TTA), the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of Mexico (CONCAMIN), and Mexico’s National Chamber of Cargo Transportation (CANACAR)—to submit a strong letter to the General Services Administration (GSA), opposing its premature decision to halt cargo traffic at the Bridge of the Americas in El Paso. With 500 trucks crossing daily, this move risks serious economic fallout for businesses on both sides of the border and threatens Texas’s economic strength. We urge the GSA to reconsider and fully consider the voices of those impacted.?Read the full post and letter here.
