A Texan in King Arthur's Court
Dear colleagues,
The weather outside may be balmy. Still, financial market volume is falling. Trading desks are being reduced to skeletal staffing levels. And the stories being covered in the media are light and fluffy. So be it. That’s what the holidays are all about, after all. It’s good to take a step back and give life’s headier issues a rest while we collectively celebrate our fellow men and women and pray for Peace on Earth.
Today I’d like to share with you a lovely story that was conveyed to me many years ago by one of the Street’s most cherished minds. Arthur Cashin, director of floor operations for UBS, needs no introduction. His daily missive is legendary -- it not only reminds us that we forget history at our peril, but also entertains in the best way, and as an added bonus contains some of the Street’s best analysis.
As I look ahead to the New Year with optimism, I know my new role will bring more new acquaintances. But as the song goes, we should always make new friends but keep the old. If what’s to come is silver, King Arthur is pure gold.

Happy Holidays!
