Testing materials for specific production orders

Over the years Fluorocarbon have developed numerous testing stations for investigating friction and wear at different loads, temperature, and exposure to environment factors for bearings manufactured using our Fluorinoid? materials.

This allows us to develop and test new materials with different designs so that we can see potential problems, but more importantly, it allows Fluorocarbon to test batch materials for a specific production order and if required, have those tests witnessed by a third party.

One such test bed uses a 100-tonne press so that various types of bearing configurations can be tested in different environments, with forces that simulate real life loadings.

To support customer production orders or just technical queries, Fluorocarbon has a range of analytical equipment like tensile testing, dynamic mechanical analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, hardness, and specific gravity so that properties of materials can be investigated to ensure that the chosen Fluorinoid? material is suitable for the required application.

Fluorocarbon have also partnered with various laboratories so that other more specialised tests can be performed on Fluorinoid? materials if required.

Fluoroglide? Skidway Plates in combination with Fluoroslip? Lubricating Systems are used in many construction yards throughout the world to assist in skidding oil jackets, modules and heavy structures up to 35,000 tonne.

A typical Fluoroglide? skidway plate comprises 2.5mm Fluorinoid? PTFE hot bonded to a 3mm carbon steel plate with a 25mm welding lip, for onsite tack welding without damage to the PTFE.

Typical friction values are 5-12% for static breakout and 1-5% for dynamic skidding. These values are dependent upon the surface finish of the timber skid shoe, flatness of the installed skidway plates and the use of Fluoroslip?.

Fluoroslip? FL414 also helps with uneven loading issues and the construction yard debris that may show during the skidding process.
