Happy Friday TestBusters,

in this issue we have the first article from a ghost...?hh guest writer.

When your want to know the maturity of your agile team regarding CI/CD/DevOps/Test & Test Automation then you should read the article from Robert Ruzitschka, Agile Engineering Coach at Raiffeisen Bank International about their Agile Engineering Maturity Model.

We got a lot of great findings from our TestBustersReporter since the last issue of this newsletter. Among others, you can read about the "TMAP End-to-end Quality Engineering at scale" which is close to the TestOps approach and Zhimin Zhan wrote an article about "Filter Out Fake Test Automation Engineers in Interviews".

The next TestBusters event is the 4th. Agile Engineering Night by Checkly and will happen on the 15th. June, where you can find out which agile engineering practices can be used by a product manager to create a successful MVP.

Apropos product manager. Dynatrace is looking for a Product Manager (f/m/x) - Check it out in the jobs section.

Happy Reading

An Agile Engineering Maturity Review for self-evaluation (by Robert Ruzitschka)

No alt text provided for this image

Even if teams have a good understanding of their problem space, experience shows that many of them still need some ideas on where to start improvements related to engineering practices.

For this purpose, the team of Engineering Coaches at RBI Head Office has created the Agile Engineering Maturity Review. This review is done based on a simple questionnaire that describes engineering capabilities in the areas of CI/CD, DevOps, Test, and Test Automation in various degrees of maturity. In a joint session, the team selects the answer that describes their current way of working best and thus puts itself into a maturity bucket.

It is strictly a self-evaluation process by the team, the framework just provides some guidance and structure and assures that all of the relevant areas are covered. This review process gives a baseline, it helps the teams to create a common understanding of their way of working, and it also helps to figure out where to start any improvement activities.?

Now RBI open-sourced this model!

What it is:

  • a tool to have a structured discussion around engineering practices
  • help to create a common understanding
  • a tool to create a team-internal feeling of "where are we"

What it is not:

  • a mechanism to rank teams
  • an objective way to measure team maturity
  • perfect and complete :-D

Use it, if you like it! Modify as you deem necessary and apply it in your specific ways. Have fun!

More about the AEMM you will find in this podcast from Joe Colantonio.
