A test if you should change

Someone approached me during the week who wanted to discuss whether he should pursue a different opportunity. I always enjoy these conversations and this one was no exception. It’s a privilege both to think about the Big Picture, and hopefully help someone else on the way.
Though I didn’t think of the quote by Nietzsche at the time, I did follow its sentiment: “Many are stubborn in the pursuit of the path they have chosen, few in pursuit of the goal.”
It was a great discussion.
Really, it’s one that would benefit us all to consider from time to time. It is so easy to fixate on some objective, to get caught up in the day to day. But how often do we really stop ourselves and check ourselves afresh? What’s the system you employ to ensure you genuinely do this? Not ignore the question for too long nor to just go through the motions?
Make sure your chosen goal is what you’re really pursuing. ?

2 年Thanks for the insight Paula. Do you use any particular approach/es to "check ourselves afresh?"

2 年Thanks Paula, appreciate the post and question. Whilst I have a set of core competencies that don’t change much, I have other competencies built around understanding and manifesting change. Some of the methods I use to “check afresh” are constantly trying to balance my values and aspirations with the values and aspirations of others and the markets I provide value to. I practice the art of sensemaking to keep a pulse on extrinsic and intrinsic value based artefacts.
