This is a Test... and we have failed MISERABLY

 “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

- The first amendment to the constitution of the United States of America. 

 As I write this, several states have declared a state of “martial law.“ 

Sure, they don’t call it such – because those types of terms are frightening – but that’s what it is. 

“We the people” have rolled over at the command of elected officials acting as if royal acts and commands must be obeyed. 

They have essentially taken away thousands of people's rights to assemble, to work, to pay wages, or, many could argue to pursue their happiness… 

 After all, when you can’t go to a bar, cannot go outside to eat in a restaurant, or not allowed to go to a movie, cannot attend an athletic event, cannot go to the theater, cannot go to a race, cannot go to a party, I even recently saw signs in California that stated “smoking outdoors is limited to private property…” It puts a real damper on the happiness factor for many folks. 

 They made a statement then passed a law that they were going to force small and medium size businesses to pay people for extended leave – effectively violating the rights of the people that own those businesses. 

What about the right of the plumbing contractor to stay in business and serve his customers? Where do the rights of the local store owner disappear to- so that now he or she needs to pay people for not working during a period where little or NO money is coming in? 

This cannot be allowed to go unnoticed and without protest. 

 You might argue that this is “for the common good,“ or that it is in the “best interest for everyone“ for the government to act this way. 

That may, in fact, be true.

 The fact that so many people so willingly laid down and accepted these commands from their elected public servants would have our founding fathers rolling in their graves. 

Way too easily allow a panel of nine old people and a group of “public service” that we supposedly have elected to do OUR BIDDING and service to deem what rights we shall be able to express, how often, and how so.

Don’t believe me? 

 Look at any argument against the Second Amendment that mentions such ridiculous theories as “they only meant muskets,“ or, that “the founding fathers could not have envisioned what types of weapons would be available to the public when they wrote that.“

 Even in the most recent argument before the Supreme Court the majority opinion stated that “the right is not unlimited.“

Really?? 

 I did not see anywhere in the second amendment where it said “shall not be infringed, except if the government deems otherwise, something is deemed too dangerous by the general public, or an effective argument is made that would otherwise allow an infringement of said rights.“

 What we need to focus more on is what the founding fathers SAID – not white people misconstrue they “meant.“

 Do we so easily forget the passage of the declaration of independence that states “we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, but they were endowed by their Creator with certain on healing double rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” 

 Your rights do not come from “the government.“ The entire purpose of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is to limit the government’s power over the individual Dash not vice versa. 

 It is shocking how quickly society degraded, store shelves emptied, and people cowered in their homes looking to “big government“ for guidance… 

“That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whether any form of government becomes destructive of those ends it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it and to institute new government weighing its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. “ 

The fact that the country just fell apart and allowed such blatant trampling of the rights of free citizens and emptied the shelves of all paper and cleaning goods should make us all worry.

Now go wash your hands for 20 seconds.

Jerry, you might want to go to law school and take constitutional law. You don't understand how these things work. No rights are unlimited, and congress has extremely broad powers under article II commerce and necessary and proper clauses to enact such emergency measures. They are temporary and necessary. Moreover, the 2A also contains language requiring the regulation of the militia the amendment provides for. In other words, the federal government may not infringe the right of the people of the several states to bear arms, but it will regulate them. THAT'S WHAT THEY SAID. only in your INTERPRETATION is the right unlimited. Stop embarrassing yourself.
