Test Scores or Eligibility Criteria? What's more important for admissions at IBA?

Can I get an admission at IBA if I do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria i.e. 65/60% or BBC/BCC in my inter/A Levels but I get a direct admission on the test or have a SAT Exemption?

or

Can I get an admission at IBA if I do not clear the test cut off or fail to get a SAT exemption but I have a 90%+ or A*A*A* in my inter/A Levels?

Okay so these are very common questions and even those towards the end of their preparations often have confusions when it comes to this. We have to understand that when it comes to admissions at IBA, there are two independent policies that students have to consider and meet. If they fail to meet anyone or both the policies, the tentative admissions will be denied. Let's look at both of them.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA

IBA is currently offering seven undergraduate programs. These programs include BBA and 6 BS programs (Accounting and Finance, Economics, Social Sciences, Economics and Mathematics, Mathematics, and Computer Sciences).

The Eligibilty Criteria for BBA is 65% for Intermediate students and at least three subject with BBC for A level students.

The Eligibilty Criteria for all BS Programs is 60% for Intermediate students and at least three subject with BCC for A level students.

If a student willing to apply in any of these programs fails to meet the respective criterion even by 0.5%, he/she will be denied admission at IBA even if he clears the direct admission cut off or have a 90th+ percentile SAT score.

And yes, once you clear the minimum eligibilty criteria, then it is all upto the test. Candidates with 65%/BCC and 90%/A*A*A* are equal.

All those willing to get in IBA, make sure you get this right. Work all you want for the test, but get this minimum criteria sorted. You'll be good.

TEST SCORES OR SAT EXEMPTIONS

Like any other top college or university, there are two ways of getting in IBA. You either clear the test Cut off, or get a SAT exemption. I'll create another post for how much score you need for exemption through SAT, but just remember it is a very secure method of getting in.

Furthermore, IBA offers admissions in two tranches. If you get a high score on the test or SAT, you will get a direct admission. No Questions asked! If not, you'd have to go through an interview. Whatever the case maybe, if you fail to clear either of the two cut off scores, you will not get an admission even if you have a 90%+ Inter or A*A*A* in your A levels. They will not be considered.

So, the answer to both the questions posed above is NO. You have to stand above the eligibility criteria and clear that cut off as well if you want to secure your admission at IBA, Karachi. Both are equally important.
