Hadn't she take that step,

she'd have passed my test.

I wish she didn't take that step,

Or I wish I didn't make the test.


But the test can by no means be avoided,

And sadly, she failed to pass.

Thus, now, we parted.

But as always, I wish her all the best.

Note: This is one of the initial outcomes of my close reading and study of Emily Dickinson's poems, which I have been doing these days. Now, I know why many poems and verses do not have titles, as I also cannot decide the title for this one. Isn't my poem beautiful? I am so happy with this one. One of the primary aims of my thinking and writing exercises is to be able to write and compose numbers of poems, verses and essays. I feel that my aim begins to be materialising.
