Tesco Ireland Opens New Store In Kilkenny City

Tesco Ireland opened its first Kilkenny City store yesterday, celebrating the retailer’s expansion into the region.

Lord Mayor Andrew McGuinness joined the official ribbon cutting as the store opened to offer a fantastic range of products and services to the local community.

The new store on High Street in the city centre has created 19 new jobs and offers an extensive range of groceries, fresh produce, household items, and more.

Tesco designed the store with convenience and an enjoyable shopping experience in mind.

As a result, the new premises is likely to become a popular shopping destination for local customers.

Kerry Group To Sell Dairy Business In Deal Worth Up To €500m

Kerry Group plc has today announced its intention to sell Kerry Dairy Ireland to Kerry Co-Operative Creameries Limited for an expected total of €500 million.

The proposed sale will see the co-op acquire a 70% interest in the dairy business, while the group will retain a 30% interest.

Both companies have also agreed to a ‘Phase 2 Transaction’, in which the co-op will have the right to purchase the remaining 30% interest in Kerry Dairy Ireland in exchange for €150 million in cash, as long as the deal is closed no later than 31 December 2035.

In the event that the co-op does not use this option before 31 July 2030, the group will have the right at any time between 31 July 2030 and 31 July 2035 to require the co-op to buy the dairy group for the same amount.

The companies agreed to a €350 million consideration, with the co-op to take a 70% interest in the business, based on a total enterprise value of €500 million.

Wendy’s Franchise To Open In Ireland In Partnership With Corrib Oil

Corrib Oil has announced that it is to become global quick-service restaurant brand Wendy’s first franchise partner in Ireland.

Corrib confirmed today that as part of the first phase of the agreement, it plans to open 10 Wendy’s restaurants across the country in the 2025 to 2027 period.

Initial site locations will consist of standalone Wendy’s restaurants as well as Wendy’s offerings in existing Corrib service stations.

Corrib and Wendy's will announce Irish site locations in the New Year.

The company has also appointed commercial real estate firm Cushman and Wakefield to advise on the site selection process.

The new partnership will create approximately 300 jobs in the first phase, with recruitment starting in early 2025.

Donnybrook Fair Closes Baggot Street Branch In Dublin

Retailer Donnybrook Fair has closed its Baggot Street branch in Dublin City, as it ceased trading earlier this week.

A sign in the window of the premises announced the closure.

It read ‘Donnybrook Fair Baggot Street will close permanently on 9th November 2024.’

The sign goes on to thank customers for their support while the store was open, on behalf of the store’s management and staff.
