Some key signs I have experienced tie nicely into your lists: fear of speaking up, fear of masking mistakes, fear of sharing a new or different perspective. For me it was an extremely uncomfortable environment to work in and not one I looked forward to going to every day. To your point the decision is in the employee’s hands: do I stay and work to improve the environment or move to a part of the company that’s “safer” or do I move on perhaps to an entirely new path. It can be a difficult and life changing decision!
