Tenacity & Service

What makes a great team is a team with Tenacity. Most of my life I was the mentee and I had mentors such as my football coaches that made me a better man. By the grace of God, I met great coaches in my past and I still keep in touch with them. When I think about where I would be without my coaches, I know that they were sent to make me a better man. That is why I've volunteered as a coach; any chance I get I try to give back to the youth. I finally understand why I had such a great relationship with my coaches. Sometimes as a growing young man parents just don't understand, no Fresh Prince of Bel Air pun. It takes someone who has been there, experienced what you have felt, and can think outside of the box instead of boxing the youth in. In this era social media impacts society as early as the toddler phase. I'm sure we have all witnessed a little baby no more than 15 months old cry for the cell phone. It is my belief that the youth is the future, and we must treat them as such. The way in which we all have learned is changing every second, technology, computers, and access to informaiton is at the tip of our hands. I want to be the role model that the youth look up to because all my mentors that I considered great were highly respected people to others. I took a moment to reflect on this picture above because it keeps me grounded. I'll never forget these young men, I'm not sure where all of them are at this point however I'm sure one of these days we will meet again. My coaches from my youth helped me be a better man and I will do the same for others. I'm forever grateful to have had this opportunity to coach and I cannot wait to coach again in the future.
