Here is the rest of Glennon's statement from her fab book 'Untamed'.."Ten is when children begin to hide who they are in order to become what the world expects them to be. Right around ten is when we begin to internalize our formal taming."

It's so true. Do you remember when you were a child and everyone told you to 'follow your dreams'...'you can do anything you want to do'....'just be yourself'?? Then, starting in early puberty, they started telling you to fit in and lower your expectations. Dreams became just that and hopes became dashed by the adults around you. 'Just wait until you're in the real world' they tell you. 'Life is hard, dreams don't work out.'

So here you are now, conditioned to live in your lowered expectations like you are a character in Arrested Development, still being told that your dreams are made of hollow pipes. How did it go from 'do what you love' to 'do what you gotta do'? What karmic BS happened along the way?

Let's get a grip on that crazy outdated theology. Increase your expectations. Expect the best from yourself and others and guess what...you'll get it. I can guarantee you will never get more from life if you don't expect more from yourself. Thats a fact. A fact that those people in your tweens, teens and adult life conveniently forgot to tell you.

Go back to your childhood and remember who you are and what you wanted and don't believe anyone who says you can't do it. Maybe they can't, but you can. I'm serious. "You can do anything you set your mind to man"
