Ten Things to Decipher as AI automation is Deployed
In a report published by the 麦肯锡 in 2018, the company highlighted ten things to solve for or prepare as AI-automation hits every economy in every nation, whether at breakneck speed or slow adoption.
The report states that "Companies and governments should harness automation and AI to benefit from the enhanced performance and productivity contributions as well as the societal benefits. These technologies will create the economic surpluses that will help societies manage workforce transitions."
The key areas that will require actionable and scalable solution are:
i) Ensuring robust economic and productive growth
ii) Fostering business dynamism
iii) Evolving education systems and learning for a changed workplace
iv) Investing in human capital
v) Improving labor market dynamism
vi) Redesigning workflows
vii) Rethinking incomes
viii) Rethinking transition support and safety nets for workers affected
ix) Investing in drivers of demand for work
x) Embracing AI and automation safely
In the future, 'work' will evolve rapidly and different kinds of work will require new skills and greater adaptability. Governments, private sector leaders and innovators all need to work together to coordinate public and private initiatives, and given the power of AI is harnessed correctly, some sectors could boom with relatively mild side-effects.
