Ten Reasons Why I want to be like My Father

Ten Reasons Why I want to be like My Father

When we were kids, we were often asked who you would like to be when you grow up. And we all had the same names in mind Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi and even Sushmita Sen :-)

Each one of us admires some one or the other...even if we don’t actually say it.

I knew always that I wanted to be like my Father “S. Trilok Singh Nayyar”

He was the finest man I have ever seen. Whatever time I could spend with him, “only 21 years though” are good enough for me to cherish, throughout the rest of my life. Now that he is gone, one song that I can’t stop humming whenever I feel his absence is:

“Chitthi na koi sandesh , Kahaan tum chale gaye......Jaane Woh Kaunsa Desh , Jahan Tum chale gaye”

I consider myself very lucky to have a great father like him. No regrets....???(Pauses and Thinks again for a moment). Only one regret, I could not start my career under his able guidance, though I know there is his Guiding light around me all the time and he helps me out of my troubles with an invisible hand.

However, since I am Carrying forward my father’s legacy in business, so wanted to see how he used to work.

?

I would like to list out and share Top 10 reasons why I would want to be like Him....!!

1.Goodness Never Dies?: It’s been more than 8 years since he passed away, even today also whenever I am in meetings with my clients, my father is still being discussed in good spirits. Oh Yes...People do remember the good being done to them....so one should Keep doing Good anyway.

2. Patience Pays:?Patience and perseverance have a magical effect, against which all difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.?He was a patient listener and analyser; he never jumped to any conclusion. He had a 360 degree horizon and acted only after understanding the whole issue. This is the reason why he was consulted for everything by his Peers, Seniors and everyone around him.

3. Help Come what May and do Help Selflessly: Help done in anticipation of something is actually not called Help. He used to help in any which way possible, and he could go to any extent in doing so. Helping Family, Friends, Colleagues, Clients (whom he considered his family members) and even Strangers was the aim of life.

4. This too shall pass:?This phrase held very important role in his life. I have heard him saying this most of the times. His Mantra for life was- “We know that nothing lasts forever so if we are experiencing Pain, Uncertainty, or Anxiety, it's important to keep in mind that eventually it too shall pass.

5. Count Your blessings:?He used to take pride in how far he had come in life. One can learn to count his blessings and not his worries. Be thankful for whatever you have, you will end up having more. So, “SHUKKAR HAI...” (Thanks To Almighty) was one expression that he uttered regularly.

6. What goes around...Comes around:?Life is a vicious circle we all know. A person's actions Good or Bad are repaid in the same way. You will get your fruits of life Good or Bad here in this lifetime only.

7. The world is not out to get you:?As part of my "Fear of the Unknown", I sometimes create situations in my head that have not even happened or may not ever happen. I often at times automatically expect the worst and I don't like it. At that time I am reminded of him saying the world is not out to get me. So, fear nothing.

8. Learn to Compromise:?This is a BIG one for me...but still can Try to learn..!! After all learning should be the process for Life. His life was so much easier just because he learnt to compromise and found the positive in every change. The glass is always half full was the principle.

9. Spread Happiness and smiles:?Smiling in every situation sounds odd but this was actual HE. He believed if we could bring smile to even a single face every day, there is no bigger achievement than that.

10. God is in our hearts:?He was not a God Fearing, But a God Loving Man and loved his people too. He never believed in going to a Temple or Gurudwara to pray. He would rather give lift to a person standing in the middle of the road on a scorching hot day and go out of way to drop him to his destination than going to a holy place. His heart full of good deeds was his temple.

?I wish I so could be like him.?At times, some people mention that I look like him but that’s not all I want.

Conclusion:?If all else fails in life, If I try and don't Succeed, If I rise to the top, I will always remember to be proud to be who I am, my true self no matter what...and all thanks to my Father!!!

Some Daughter has very truly said?“The First True Love any girl has is her father. No One will ever replace him as the Love of her Life”

“Love You?Papa”
