Ten Reasons To Become A Career Coach

Ten Reasons To Become A Career Coach

I started career coaching because after twenty years working in HR, I had questions:

1)????Why does every resume look the same?

2)????Who told job candidates to use such stiff, robotic language in their branding materials? (“Results-oriented professional with a bottom-line orientation,” for instance.) This language hurts them! It sucks all their personality out of their resume.

3)????Why are countless articles, books, podcasts, videos and courses by so-called experts sharing such terrible advice?

I was frustrated. As an HR leader hiring thousands of people, I had seen countless job seekers following the worst advice and hurting their job search prospects in the process.

The overarching theme for career advice was, “Be whoever you have to be, to get the job.”

Nonsense! That’s insulting, and it isn’t even true.

I wrote thousands of articles, recorded podcasts and created a whole new job search curriculum based on the mindset that only the people who get you, deserve you.

Job seekers have power they aren’t always aware of. I started career coaching to remind people of their power, and show them how to use it.

Now, I’m teaching a small group of amazing people how to become career coaches, launch and grow their own coaching businesses and teach my curriculum.

They will join the Human Workplace Coach Network and help job seekers, career changers and career explorers find their paths, brand themselves and step into new jobs and new adventures.

Here are ten reasons to become a career coach:

1.????To use skills and expertise you can’t always use in your current job.

2.????To help clients get jobs that deserve their talents.

3.????To create a side business that can grow into a full-time career.

4.????To see the impact of your work on real people, every day.

5.????To grow your thought leadership flame and platform.

6.????To have a second “oar in the water,” a source of income apart from your full-time job.

7.????To share the wisdom you’ve accumulated throughout your life and career.

8.????To give back.

9.????To launch a business that belongs to you.

10.?To step into your power as a coach and mentor.

How do I decide whether to keep my job or look around?

3.????How do I avoid consulting for free at a job interview?

I don’t want to give all my ideas away at the interview, but how do I avoid it?
