Ten dogmas about Article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Academic)

?Article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.” This powerful statement sets forth principles that are fundamental to ensuring the protection and promotion of human rights for all individuals across the globe.

There are ten dogmas that can be derived from Article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

1. Equality before the law: Article 7 emphasizes the principle that all individuals, regardless of their race, religion, nationality, or any other factor, are equal before the law. This means that no one should be favored or discriminated against based on any irrelevant criteria.

2. Protection of the law: Article 7 asserts that all individuals are entitled to equal protection of the law. This protection should be available to everyone without discrimination and should safeguard their rights and freedoms.

3. Non-discrimination: Article 7 prohibits discrimination in any form and guarantees equal protection against discrimination. This means that individuals should not be treated unfairly or disadvantaged on the basis of their race, gender, religion, or any other characteristic.

4. Protection against incitement to discrimination: Article 7 recognizes the importance of safeguarding individuals against incitement to discrimination. This includes preventing the spread of hate speech or any other form of incitement that promotes discrimination against specific groups.

5. Accountability: Article 7 implies that those who engage in discriminatory practices or incite discrimination should be held accountable for their actions. This helps to ensure that individuals are protected from discrimination and that perpetrators are held responsible for their actions.

6. Access to justice: Article 7 underscores the importance of providing equal access to justice for all individuals. This includes ensuring that legal processes are fair, transparent, and accessible to everyone, regardless of their background.

7. Redress for victims: Article 7 emphasizes the need for victims of discrimination to be provided with access to effective remedies and redress. This includes compensating victims for any harm or injustice they have suffered due to discrimination.

8. Promotion of human rights: Article 7 promotes the idea that human rights should be upheld and protected for everyone. This includes raising awareness about human rights issues, promoting tolerance and acceptance, and working to prevent discrimination and prejudice.

9. Collaboration and cooperation: Article 7 recognizes that addressing discrimination and promoting human rights requires collaboration and cooperation among individuals, communities, governments, and organizations. This collective effort is essential for creating a more inclusive and just society.

10. Upholding the rule of law: Article 7 underscores the importance of upholding the rule of law as a foundation for protecting human rights. This means ensuring that laws are applied fairly, transparently, and consistently to uphold the principles of equality and non-discrimination.

In conclusion, Article 7 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights sets forth important principles that are crucial for ensuring the protection and promotion of human rights for all individuals. By adhering to the dogmas derived from this article, we can work towards creating a more just, inclusive, and equitable society for everyone.

Can we actually protect ourselves when we protect children, teenagers and other people? Thank you for this post, it's of help to me, to all the society, to all forms of life. When any child or adult suffers .. we all suffer. When we help .. we may also help ourselves and the people or animals we care about.
