Queensmere Observatory and Slough BID Join Forces to Empower Education: Supporting Global Educational Trust Through a 'Life-Sized' Giving Box
Global Educational Trust (GET) has received a significant boost in support from the Slough Business Improvement District (BID) and Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre. The shopping centre recently unveiled a "life-sized" gift box designed to collect donations for GET.
Recognising the valuable work done by GET in promoting literacy among people of all ages, Slough BID and Queensmere Observatory chose GET as the first charity to receive their support throughout 2023. GET is known for its free bookshops, which rescue books from being discarded and offers them for free to customers. The donation box at Queensmere Observatory encourages shoppers to contribute both new and used reading materials, including magazines and children's books.

Update on Ban Box Shifting
As part of our ongoing effort to raise awareness of unethical business rates avoidance schemes, we are working with Sapience Communications on an Open Letter to the government, requesting them to extend the occupation period for rates exemption from six weeks to six months, following the example of the Welsh and Scottish governments.
The aim of this is to secure crucial funding for public services and promote a fairer, more sustainable approach to business rates.
