Temperatures are getting me hot under the collar!
why oh why oh why do terminals in WAF use cup case thermometers?
why oh why oh why do cargo inspectors accept them
Lets get this straight they are useless for field work....use a portable electronic thermometer please (PET)
Unscrupulous people can easily take advantage of this - and often do - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
why oh why oh why do people not listen to experts who tell them about this?
They need calibrating before each use and are so difficult to read properly in anything but lab conditions that they can easily be 1 Deg.C out!
Example
On a 15,000 metric ton shore tank containing clean products this 1 Deg.C error could account for over 20 metric tons of cargo. At an average value of $600 per ton that is $12,000 U$D as a loss before the cargo has left or entered the tank.
SO PLEASE STOP USING CUP CASE THERMOMETERS EVERYONE - THEY BELONG IN A LABORATORY ONLY.......OR POSSIBLY A MUSEUM

5 年Mr Craig Sir, I always love your points... Nailing the points on the head... Kpakam... Is always painful when you see, a cargo you are in charge under custody transfer, disappearing, through the use of the so called cup thermometer...highest receiver's will say give me lop..
