Temperature Screening Solutions from IndigoVision

Temperature Screening Solutions from IndigoVision

As with security a layered approach is always the wisest move. The use of a thermal temperature camera has been around for many years, in a previous role back in 2006 thru 2011, we set up security screening check points using metal detectors, millimeter wave technology, thermal cameras and x-ray machines, all designed to determine who required secondary screening. Using thermal temperature cameras are not a new approach, they have been around at least a decade or more.

In the case of the thermal temperature camera it will only determine the skin temperature of the person being screened generating an alarm if one’s body temperature is above a predetermined limit. While this is not the final factor in determining if a subject is sick, it does provide information on if a subject is running a higher than normal temperature which leads to a secondary screening procedure. With all screening systems, certain standard operating procedures “SOP’s” should be followed to improve performance and results. Any elevated body temperature readings should be confirmed in your secondary screening with an appropriate medical device (e.g. an NCIT or clinical grade contact thermometer).

Most “typical” thermal temperature cameras stop at providing a basic temperature alarm and or readings.

Now time to pat IndigoVision, my company on the back, our team have added an additional layer to your thermal temperature screening cameras providing confidence to deal with results effectively and consistently, time after time. Our Agora platform creates tailored sets of processes and procedures to manage the results quickly and consistently while helping avoid human error. Thus, enabling organizations the ability to scan a person’s temperature and create procedures to help operators consistently manage results. Providing custom operating procedures for screening employees, visitors, customers and contractors.

Agora Temperature Screening begins by delivering a safe and contactless screening of a person’s temperature using a thermal temperature camera combined with a heat emitter device, known as a Blackbody, that is used by the thermal temperature camera as a reference point. If the person is below the defined level, for example 35°C, then no action is required and the person can pass swiftly into the building. However, if the threshold temperature is exceeded then an on-screen alert appears and your predetermined high temperature procedures are activated, guiding the operator in delivering the correct response to the results and ensure a consistent approach that helps avoid human error.

Your customized operating procedures can be implemented to guide operators how to deal with different categories of people, whether they are employees, visitors, customer or contractors. Procedures can also be instantly changed to keep pace with changing requirements. By implementing these custom procedures and updating them as needed, organizations can provide:

Peace of mind for employees and visitors beyond checkpoints

Alerting and helping employees and visitors manage screening results

Processes to manage the threat of a high temperature within your workplace

Analyze and track results with Agora Business Intelligence

Agora Business Intelligence provides thermal temperature camera screening statistics that can be effectively analyzed and exported so you can identify areas of concern and chart your progress over time. Dynamic filtering can be applied to instantly see key stats such as number of people screened, number of people above average temperature, incident handling times and results by location. Then your screening reports can be easily shared and outputted in PDF or Excel formats. Thermal camera video clips, snap shots and other valuable information is stored in your reports and available for quick and convenient access. Back in 2006 thru 2011 we only had the ability to alarm on higher temperatures using a thermal temperature cameras, today IndigoVision can provide a truly layered thermal temperature camera screening solution approach to a proven technology.

IndigoVision’s thermal temperature camera has as Temperature Accuracy Max ±0.5°C when used with our Thermal Blackbody, however our products are not medical devices or intended for medical use and have not been tested or approved by any regulatory authority. In particular, none of IndigoVision’s products should be used or relied upon as a primary means of identifying persons who may be infected by any disease (including COVID-19).  As stated above a thermal temperature camera should be used in a layered approach. Accuracy of temperature readings depends on a wide variety of conditions and, accordingly, such readings should be regarded as indicative only. Any elevated body temperature readings should be confirmed with an appropriate medical device (e.g. an NCIT or clinical grade contact thermometer).
