Temerity

Afar we see the promised shore

Through the dense of forest galore

Oars our shepherd in a dreamy float

Wading on waters tepid with doubt

Fraught with the fleeting life submarine

Impelled by hope from a flying machine

Through the rapids too treacherous to tame

We chant to a spirit known by the Waters' name

Dubious the prospect of making the banks

I wonder the profit from wording the chant

Silent I observe the companions afloat

Facing trepidation they manage to gloat

Amidst the rejoice of making ashore

I ponder the the chant I come to adore

As we struggle in the conquest of truth

Does hope or faith propel our pursuit?
