Telling your story is powerful but how are you telling yours?

Telling your story is powerful but how are you telling yours?

I wanted to write this short post because in the last few weeks, I have seen F&B leaders have some great ideas rejected

When I reflected on why this was happening, I came to the same conclusion every time...

They didn't craft proposals properly.

You see, making the perfect pitch is all about telling your story and taking the listener on a compelling journey

And because F&B Insider is all about helping F&B leaders around the globe (52 as of writing)

Here are my top five tips to make the perfect pitch

Because managing up is as important as managing your team!

1/ It's important to show how it will effect different parts of the business - structure your pitch into four keys areas;

--> Revenue

--> Cost

--> Quality

--> Team

2/ What is the focus for the person you are pitching to?

Make sure you have all the information for this area.?

E.g. if the person is cost focussed make sure you spend more time on this area to understand how your idea affects cost. It's the same for quality, revenue and team.?

3/ Present in bullet points and summarise the details.?

--> But make sure you appendix the detailed content or have it available to answer questions.

4/ Always include a financial assumption no matter what the focus of your proposal is.

Answer these question...

--> What is the impact on the business if my proposal is successful?

--> What is the risk?

5/ Be confident! It's good to be nervous, it shows you care (and is natural) but don't let this impact your confidence.?

Prepare, analyse and be ready to answer, if you can't, don't panic - you can always provide it later!

Don't let your game changer fail because you don't pitch perfectly

Because the key to growing differently?

Is being able to think differently

And (Trust me ??) that sometimes needs more selling than you think

That is it for this week

See you next time
