The start of a new year is a time to look back and look ahead.
Looking back, I want to thank you for all the ways you’ve been a friend to animals.
In 2014, we rescued abandoned dogs in Ukraine, gave hands-on care to orphaned elephants and brought about new policies that will protect seals and whales. In so many parts of the globe, we were able to protect and care for helpless animals because of your support.
Looking ahead, we will continue many projects, like raising orphaned elephants, rescuing animals after natural disasters and protecting wildlife from poachers.
Almost every day, someone tells me a story about their special connection with animals. I always love to hear these stories.
I would like to invite you to tell me about your special bond with an animal. Maybe it’s a beloved cat or dog. Maybe it’s a wild animal that you saw near where you live or while away on vacation.
Please take a moment to tell me about that special bond in the comments section below.
I look forward to reading what you have to say. Thank you for your time and thoughts.
Wishing you a happy and healthy new year!

10 年I rescued my first cat, Zoey, almost exactly one year ago. As soon as my daughter and I saw her, we instantly fell in love with her and took her home. Our dog was with us at the time too (it was an adoption event at PetSmart), and she gave Zoey the "paws up". My daughter had been asking to adopt a cat for the longest time. Holly, our American Eskimo, also is an amazing girl. There's nothing quite like being an Eskie mom, she is a toddler in a fur suit. We still aren't sure who rescued who, but our little family is now complete.

10 年I rescued a dog 6 years ago. I tried to help him and find him a good and caring home. Things did not happen that way. I felt really connected with him and he was so tender with me, I had to keep it. It was the best decision and made in my life. He made my days really different. He is the most wonderful pet I can have. I tattooed him in my leg. I love him very much. He as this special condition: he is epieptic and this has been a really learning for my as owner and as person. Thaks to my dog for being so good teacher. :-)

10 年A family member gave us a dog named Molly that they didn't want. She was still under a year old and had accidents when she got excited. Other than that, she was / is a sweetheart of a dog and is my buddy. I am so thankful for her presence every day and love her to pieces. I figured out how to stop the "accidents" and never have any issues with her. Dogs are truly your best friend. :-)
