Tell Tale Signs Your Brand Isn't Working - Wincey Face
I’ve identified some common mistakes founders make when building their brand, and so you can avoid these mistakes I’m going to take you through them.
I’m sure you can recall a moment when you’ve handed out your business card and you’ve pulled the ‘wincey face’.?
It’s that moment where you cringe visibly when you present your brand. It’s usually followed by some kind of excuse like;
“Ignore the logo, we’re currently getting a new one done.”
or
“Bear in mind this is out of date – we’re getting everything updated soon.”
or
“These are our old cards, the website has our new branding on it.”
The trouble is, when your brand presentation isn’t working it inflicts damage to your brilliant idea. From the very first time you meet a potential new customer, you’re in control of the impression you make – and the visual presentation of your company should back that up, not tear it down.
Bad design isn’t just reserved for the humble business card. You need to watch out for other areas of your brand too. If graphics, images even the UX across your marketing materials doesn’t align with your brand strategy - your purpose, personality, or your brand story. It can be hard for audiences to digest your message, let alone make an emotional connection, and they’ll quickly break off the relationship with your brand.
