Tell Me Something Good: Clubhouse
On my LIVE show on Friday nights on the Hi-Curious network, I play the song "Tell Me Something Good," by Rufus and Chaka Khan -- I ask my friends tuning into my live to share something good from this week. We always find something to celebrate even in the darkest times. In this spirit, I am starting what I hope to be a new series called Tell Me Something Good.
Tell Me Something Good: Volume One, Clubhouse
As a cannabis tech founder (I really like saying that about myself because it's so unexpected), I am leery of spending my time off my app on the platform of some other entrepreneur. After all, time is our most valuable resource, and if I am "working," shouldn't I be tending to my home garden? Or, at least working outside my garden in familiar places like LinkedIn and Instagram?
Can a new platform be worth your time? I certainly hope so as we expect to welcome thousands of people to Hi-Curious this year. This week, I learned from Clubhouse that the answer is most certainly YES!
# 5 Good Things About Clubhouse
1) The joining process: I joined Clubhouse a few weeks ago, and I was immediately impressed with how cool the joining process was. I loved the inclusively exclusive feeling and was immediately bummed when I couldn't "get in" right away, soon to be elated that a "friend" had jumped me to the front of the line. *Good stuff, everyone gets in, just not right away, noted.*
2) Real conversations: I have spent about 3 hours invested in Clubhouse and have had multiple immediate opportunities come as a result. What I mean by this is that I have chosen 3, hour-long conversations to participate in. Each one has been fruitful and well moderated. I love that people are all there to help one another and learn from each other RIGHT NOW, it's inspiring to hear all of these voices from our private corners reaching out during this hard time for connection, light, support and sisterhood.
3) The chance to pitch your business: In each of the rooms I have joined, I have been invited up to "the stage" to talk about my business and/or offer advice or ask for help. I have walked away from each conversation with exciting next steps both about my work and the work of others that I am interested in supporting. I had the guts to ask a "room" full of Womxn in Event Marketing to connect me to the money people they have in their lives. I want to thank my friend Christine Courtney for giving me the floor to ask for help and I am honored that my first "pitch" was on Clubhouse. I can't wait to sign up for all of the Shark Tanks coming up!
4) Collaborative people: Every room has been filled with people who seem to genuinely want to work together toward solutions. I joined a room last Saturday night where people were airing their concerns about the Clubhouse app with representatives of Clubhouse. It was fascinating to listen to people work together to understand each other's points of view and work toward solutions. Everyone was sharing what they knew and their experiences to help one another use the platform more effectively. It was inspiring.
5) A place to do business in cannabis: I want to thank Lisa, the founder of Tokeativity for inviting me up to my very first stage. Lisa is a pioneer Womxn in Cannabis and I am grateful for her leadership. I look forward to joining many more cannabis colleagues on the platform to learn and grow together. We will be hosting some conversations in the coming weeks and I look forward to joining in on the conversations of the current and future leaders of cannabis. See you there!
