Tell Me Something Good #7

Tell Me Something Good #7

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks since I spoke to you last. You might have noticed in one of my latest LinkedIn videos, but I got goats a couple of weeks ago.

That’s been a dream several years in the making, but it’s finally happened. It’s in the personal category, but don’t give up. Giving up is the quickest way to keep your goals at a distance.

I’ve got a few good news stories for you this week!

Supporting Pandemic Work with Tech

Infragistics, the leading provider of UX and UI tools for designers and developers, announced the launch of their Ignite for Good program. Designed to offer resources to support those working on COVID-19-related technology projects and provide assistance to small businesses and global customers.

“We recognize that as an industry leader, we have a responsibility to do our part to provide leadership and contribute our technology resources and expertise during these difficult times,” said Dean Guida, Founder and CEO of Infragistics.

The first to be released is the Angular COVID-19 Dashboard, which provides a real-time view of current global data related to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This dynamic dashboard was built using Indigo. Design and Ignite UI for Angular leveraging timely data from CSSEGISandData/COVID-19 to create a useful and impactful visualization.

Bringing More IT Jobs to America

GalaxE.Solutions, an IT company working in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, financial services, retail industries, is bringing IT jobs to the safety and security of America as the labor arbitrage rates are flattening.

Detroit, Hartford, and Milwaukee are the first cities under the OutSource to America banner. The program is growing which can mean many IT jobs coming to America. The aforementioned are committed to training, working with local government agencies, colleges, and universities to provide opportunities for IT professionals.

In an era of high unemployment, this effort has the potential to help many professionals.

Pivoting to Produce Hand Sanitizer

Stone Soap is an 88-year old company that produces car wash which they ship all over the world. That industry has dried up (sorry). They successfully changed their business model and are producing FDA approved, high-grade hand sanitizer.

They’ve signed a 7 figure deal to provide it to all of the manufacturing facilities and dealerships for one of the big three.

Because of their shift to making hand sanitizer, Stone Soap hasn’t had to lay anyone off. In fact, they’ve added family members from their staff who were laid off at their jobs. And farmed out some of their production work to companies who were in trouble.

Currently, Stone Soap is producing 10,000 gallons of hand sanitizer a week at their 8-acre, 120,000 square foot manufacturing facilities. Stone Soap has a license to purchase high-grade alcohol in large quantities from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms. They have the capacity to produce 50,000 gallons a week.

I hope you had a nice July 4th holiday. This upcoming week is going to be busy for sure. My podcast’s season 5 is premiering next Monday, and the guest line up is fantastic!

Yours in defiance,

Ruthie
