"Tell me some of your weaknesses."
Do you remember the last time, you had cried your heart out to express your loved ones that you aren't just feeling alright?
Once in a mock PI session, I was asked to list out my weaknesses. I said, "I am quite sensitive and emotional." The interviewer replied, "You are not supposed to say that. Ever. To anyone."
Now that I think, the interviewer made me realize that I was correct in thinking that it is indeed one of my weaknesses and I am not supposed to tell it aloud.
We have definitely forgotten the art of communicating which was actually imbibed in us, by birth. When a human baby is born, they don't know how to talk but the only way they know how to communicate is by crying their lungs out until they are picked up or cuddled or attended to. As we grow up, we are shushed once we start crying for some reason. We start considering crying, to be a negative trait.
But that is the way, we humans have been wired. We need to communicate and crying is the first instinct we have learnt.
There is a thin line between empathy and sympathy. Not many can comprehend that.
