Telespazio at AI STAR 2023
The Artificial Intelligence Symposium on Theory, Application and Research is a two-day event featuring technical talks, networking opportunities and exciting project poster spaces in the fields of Research, Methods and Algorithms and AI Applications.
We have been there this week and one of the key aspects that set AI Star apart was the diverse range of contributions presented, demonstrating the versatility of AI in solving real-world challenges. Among our highlights were three posters and an insightful panel discussion.
Panel Discussion: Exploring AI's Impact on Cybersecurity
Our colleague Cesar Guzman took the stage on the first day to engage in an inspiring panel discussion titled "Implications of AI Systems on Cybersecurity Posture." This dialogue delved into the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity in the era of AI, emphasizing the potential benefits, risks, and strategies to harness AI for enhancing security measures.
Poster 1: The AI Assistant for Mission Preparation
Luigi Palladino 's presentation stood out during the poster session. "Easing Mission Preparation with our Artificial Intelligence Assistant" showed how this advanced generative QA assistant can increase the efficiency of the Flight Control Teams in space mission preparation. Our colleagues Annabell Langs , Matú? Náme?ny and Cesar Guzman are also part of this project.

Poster 2: AI Security Monitoring Platform
The next poster, titled "Artificial Intelligence Security Monitoring Platform," was presented by Peter Franke and Marc Niezette . Their primary objective was to design, develop and train an ML-based tool and algorithm that can detect security threat-related anomalies in space mission data systems.
Poster 3: AI4Sen2Cor - Enhancing Copernicus Sentinel-2 Products
Titled "AI4Sen2Cor: A Project Aiming at Enhancing Copernicus Sentinel-2 Products with Geospatial Intelligence by Adding New AI-Based Functionalities on Sen2Cor, the Official ESA Processor for Copernicus Sentinel-2 L2A Products," their work aims to provide Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enhanced S2-L2A products and present an approach to automatically detect and classify objects on water.
The team - Satish Madhogaria , Davinder Pal Singh , Francesco Cristiano Pignatale , Bodo Werner - expresses their gratitude to the European Space Agency - ESA for funding their project through the "Future EO-1 EO Science for Society" program, specifically within Activity Line 3: Artificial Intelligence for EO - Expro +.
See you next year AI Star!
