On the recent Telehealth Income Explosion Program this statement was raised:

This was my response:
“Do you see any Amazon delivery vans in your area?”
To which this PT replied:
“Yes, I see them everywhere”.
To which I replied:
“Well, we know your patientschave access to the internet.cWhat other false beliefs do you have about telehealth?”

What’s interesting about the whole telehealth situation right now is there’s a divide in the PT Community…
…a divide between those DOING IT and already replacing their lost income and those who seem reluctant to embrace it thinking that it is some how not valuable or coming up with all sorts of excuses (like the one above) about why it won’t work for them.
Another false belief is this one:
“My patient population isn’t good with technology”.
What?
You mean they aren’t capable of using a mouse to click on a link in an email that you send??
(Because really, that’s all they’re doing.)
And, when they ask if it is easy to use, that is the simplicity of your response.
If you tell them they need to download an App from the AppStore and wait for an update before entering an access code and turning on notifications from their settings tab, you will confuse the heck out of them (…yours truly included)…
…however, if you tell them to do things they’ve been doing for years long before coronavirus, they’ll agree to give it ago.
Even more:
You could offer a “tech help” call that happens 5-10 mins before their appointment and is with your front desk person to make sure they’re able to join the call with you or your PTs.
Is telehealth PT "perfect"??
No - (but what is?).
Is it effective in being able to help people?
You bet it is.
Is it effective at replacing some of your lost income.
100% YES.
