Educating, inspiring & motivating insurance & financial professionals to be the best they can be for their communities.
Don Hansen is a cutting edge expert when it comes to alternatives or supplements to the traditional health insurance, and he's always been there looking for options to keep health insurance affordable for American families.
Don Hansen shares in this episode, more convenient and faster options for healthcare. He talks about a form of healthcare called Telemedicine. There are two different types: pay per use model and direct primary care, or DPC. He explains that direct primary care is the solution for the future. Direct primary care is a concierge medicine subscription-based model where physicians got sick and tired of dealing with reimbursements from health insurance taking 120 to 180 days, their staff doing the billing CPT and ICD9 codes wrong, and not being on the same page as the insurance carrier.
Another option he talked about in this episode was Reference based pricing. According to Don, this provides fair medical pricing, makes it easier to discern the price of medical services, and insurance companies, medical providers and patients all win in this scenario. Reference based pricing basically is where a company, employer, or patient can see any provider or facility, so the network is open to anybody that will accept them as a patient. Patients aren't limited by in-network, and out of network. They can go see anybody they want to!
