Vodafone Idea has concluded a mega $3.6 billion deal with Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung to supply network equipment over three years. This marks the first step towards the rollout of the company’s three-year capex plan of $6.6 billion, which is directed towards expanding the 4G population coverage from 1.03 billion to 1.2 billion, launching 5G in key markets and expanding capacity in line with data growth.

3.???? Nokia says German court rules in its favour in Amazon patent dispute

A German court has ruled that Amazon is using Nokia's?patented video technologies without a licence, the Finnish network equipment maker and telecommunications patent holder said on Friday. In a statement, Nokia's Chief Licensing Officer Arvin Patel said the Munich Regional Court ruled Amazon was using "Nokia's patented video-related technologies in its end-user streaming devices and is selling them illegally without a licence".

Unlike previous iterations of network slicing that require customers to pre-define their network needs, the new software solution intelligently allocates network resources to meet varying workloads of enterprises and consumer applications, thereby overcoming issues of over- or under-provisioning and eliminating the risk of compromising network performance. ARRP also simplifies the complexity of network management for enterprise customers and is particularly beneficial for mission-critical applications where demands on the network frequently changes abruptly.

The project will also see Nokia modernize Viettel’s 4G infrastructure. Deployment will begin this year.

Startup Celona is starting to deliver private networks into China, the company’s?founder and CEO Rajeev Singh?told Fierce recently. The company started operations in February 2019 delivering 4G LTE and 5G private networks using the?Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) mid-band 3.5 GHz spectrum in the United States. Singh told us that the company has moved into the rest of the world over the last couple of years. The CEO said that Celona has engagements in Latin America, the Middle East — “especially Saudi," — South East Asia and Europe.
