For telecom operators, 5G is not just a network; it's all about service-based revenue streams.
End-to-end architecture of 5G Services

For telecom operators, 5G is not just a network; it's all about service-based revenue streams.

=> Pre-Reads & Problem Statement!

Over the past 2 years, we have seen lots of development across the globe, For telcos to remain competitive, they have heavily invested in network upgrades & deployed the latest technologies like fiber backhaul, broadband, 5G, IoT, small cells, etc. wireless networks.

Way back then, the biggest challenge for Telco was:-

  1. How can we deliver high-speed networks to meet increasing demands?
  2. While maintaining their legacy services, infrastructures..
  3. Meeting financial expectations.
  4. Improve the network and customer satisfaction index.
  5. Quick time to deploy, improved turnaround time, etc.

With such huge challenges and the only possible solution in-hand with the Telecom operator was that they must start deploying 5G-NSA / 5G-SA (and which was a "No-brainer Act !!!" - which actually future lead to a revenue-impacting act !!)

// In fact, way back operators used to do lots of data analysis, surveys, market research, cluster planning, In-field planning, and analysis, and proceed for BoQ / Finance approval. etc... – In short, there were several screenings before the actual site was approved and went LIVE. "All Step was Skipped !!"

Now, Telecom Operator have 2 challenges :-

(1) Traditional challenges (as listed above, i.e. 5 points as above)

(2) The solution to those challenges (i.e., deployed 5G), itself is a challenge now!!

Which lead to the emergent of commercializing and monetizing of 5G to bring revenue !!

Now operators understood that we have to think beyond just network planning and implementation; network deployment and operations, etc., and need a path for the use of the 5G network to create new services that can drive new revenue streams.

Worldwide, telecom operators, vendors, service providers, and other groups raised the following questions :-

  • They concluded that - by just providing High-Data | Low Latency to end users, it won't lead to a jump in revenue, nor will this model work effectively...

So now what's next ??

  • How do you provide the services??
  • How do I provision the services??
  • How to make money out of those things??
  • How to make 5G a backbone network in providing connectivity to industries, enterprises and other domains.??
  • What are the types of service and use cases needed ??
  • What should be our road-map??
  • What are the methods to be followed?? etc....

CEOs and CTOs across the globe says that "The challenges are not eliminated even after such a huge amount of investments & deployment of 5G network

-- Its a real pain !!"

"This leads to the need for End-to-End Architecture of 5G Services, which will help to "Commercialize & Monetize" by providing additional use cases, services and the possibility of using Network-as-a-Service (Naas) - which can be future of Telecommunication companies"
End-to-end architecture of 5G services for commercialization and monetization.

With such Open & Diversified Architecture of 5G services in-hand, Mobile Operators have the opportunity to re-shape and distinguish their voice, text, and data offerings using 5G, thereby enhancing the overall customer and network experience.

The end-to-end architecture of 5G services for commercialization and monetization is powered by cloud-native technology, 3GPP-compliant, comprehensive partner management, and digital commerce features to effectively monetize the 5G environment.

With this solution, mobile operators can deliver a diverse portfolio of premium services across IoT, smart cities, AR/VR, e-health, Industry 4.0, and various other sectors through integrating 3rd party digital marketplaces (partner enable).

Above solution creates diverse revenue opportunities for B2C, B2B and B2B2X scenarios.. #MustNeededSolution.

Closing Note :-

Telecom operators have changed there focus from "just looking at network related things, to creating plans & strategies regarding the possibilities of using 5G services for commercialization and monetization. Below are some of key steps as mention below.

  • Monetization Strategies => There are 3 phases of monetization: traffic monetization, quality of service (QoS) tariffing, and New service & Use Cases launch and monetization.

(1) Traffic monetization involves offering better data packages to users for improved experiences, which has proven successful.

(2) Quality of service tariffing allows operators to tailor pricing based on speed, latency, and other factors, catering to different market segments' needs.

(3) New service & Use Cases Launch and Monetization involve leveraging 5G capabilities, such as AI and Cloud, to offer innovative services, like AI-powered calling services and high-quality 3D video streaming.

  • Emerging Opportunities => Fixed wireless access (FWA) has gained traction, with over 50% of operators launching FWA services on 5G networks, providing guaranteed speeds and reliability.
  • Enterprise 5G solutions => Its maturing slowly and steadily, offering benefits such as low latency, high reliability, and fast upload speeds, making them ideal for various industrial applications.
  • 5G has a promising future outlook => 5G Advanced (5.5G) and AI are identified as the hottest topics for future development, promising further advancements in network capabilities and services.
  • Collaborations and partnerships with AI, cloud, and IoT providers
  • Focus Shift from Devices to Networks => shifting from device-centric discussions to network-centric discussions, emphasizing the importance of building robust, high-speed, and low-latency networks for future revenue generation.
