Update to customers in West Africa – Services restored: In response to the significant disruption of the digital subsea communication infrastructure on March 14, 2024, which adversely affected Telecel customers across multiple West African countries. It was a perfect storm with the majority of West Africa cables all affected including Sat3, WACS, ACE and Main One cable system.

Telecel Global Services swiftly mobilized to acquire more capacity on other cable systems including Equiano and SACS in order to restore IP and service connectivity. Today, we can announce that all our West Africa customers have had their services completely restored less than a week after the initial outage. Telecel Global Services is now working to assist other customer in the region with diverse IP capacity which will restore their currently affected services but also ensure future diversity and resilience.

Moreover, we recognize the importance of preventing similar occurrences in the future. To this end, Telecel Global Services is actively strengthening the resilience and reliability of our digital subsea and land-based communication infrastructure. This includes the implementation of robust redundancy measures, rigorous monitoring protocols, and strategic collaborations within the telecommunications industry to fortify the integrity of our network.
